The summits almost within one’s grasp – holiday makers can enjoy multi-faceted hiking experiences and unforgettable mountaineers’ bliss in Tux in the summer. Glistening blue mountain lakes and lovely and lush meadows meet striking and impressive rock and mountain formations in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. Among the 350 perfectly sign-posted hiking trails are for example the moor trail at Penken or the Tuxbach nature trail. And if you prefer a bit more action, you find your challenges in canyoning, mountain biking, rock climbing and on numerous via ferratas or during paragliding. Jump into (cool) water in the Hintertux thermal outdoor pool or the Finkenberg public outdoor swimming bath. The Tux sports bus and the hiking bus bring you to your destination free of charge.
Excursion destinations include e.g. Europe’s highest-located show cave, the natural ice palace at Hintertux Glacier or the Playarena with its incomparable offer not only for young guests.
After an adjustment of the boundaries, the area of the nature park has grown by 7 km² to 379 km². From Mayrhofen, the gateway to the nature park, the rear Zillertal valley branches out like the fingers of a hand into the various side valleys. The nature park extends from an altitude of 1,000 m in Ginzling up to 3,509 m at the Hochfeiler, covering all altitudinal zones of the Central Alps.
As guests of the Schönen Aussicht, you have the opportunity to take part in all guided hikes free of charge organised by the nature park. Let the nature park guides provide you with information and background details about the impressive natural and cultural landscape of the rear Zillertal valley during the hikes.

With the mountain or e-bike you can cycle along excellently signposted forest trails around Tux. With the free bike transport you can easily reach the Sommerbergalm (2,100 m) or use the Finkenberg chairlifts for the perfect start to biker’s paradise – that’s how a summer holiday in the Zillertal should be.
With the e-mountain bike you cycle up to the alpine pasture and then it’s on foot to the mountain summit. After the summit experience, it’s back on the bike down to the valley – a perfect combination.
And for those who prefer a more comfortable ride, the asphalted cycle paths from Mayrhofen are ideal for a family-friendly cycling trip. The Zillertal Railway serves as an attractive shortcut option. Well-run sports shops provide the appropriate rental equipment for your favourite bike tour.
The Zillertal Railway offers cyclists a variety of options: city bikes, children’s bicycles, child seats and helmets can be rented and returned at the stations. For the journey home, the train is the best choice. If you prefer to use your own bike, you can easily take it on the train for cycling without any extra charge, as bicycles are transported on the trains free of charge.

Climbing or via ferratas are the trend in mountaineering and also allow hikers, of course only with the appropriate equipment and depending on the level of difficulty, to dip their toes into the vertical world.
Nowhere else do you get to know the country & people so well as at typical festivals & events. And how to really celebrate? That’s what they know in the Tuxertal!
